EMSAS Tournament Structure
All entrants into each EMSAS Tournament are randomly drawn into a number of qualifying groups. Each of these groups will contain 6 teams. Specially invited on-league sides will be invited to play in the tournament if required to maintain equal group sizes. [see Non League Teams]
Each team in the group will play each other once in the group stages. The top two sides in each group will then progress to the knock-out stages. In order to have an even draw, the next best teams finishing outside the first two positions in a group may also be entered in the knock-out draw.
The knock-out rounds will continue until the final. There is no third place play-off.
All games are played inside at the Einnek F.A.'s state of the art indoor arena and each one lasts for 20 minutes with no half-time interval. The pitch is roughly two-thirds the size of a normal football pitch and enclosed completely in Plexiglas to ensure the ball is in play at all times. The game will only stop due to foul play or in the case of serious injuries.
In the event of a draw after 20 minutes during the knock-out rounds. A sudden death shoot-out competition will be played to determine the victors.
